March 2017 News!
Several new choral pieces have been added to Sheet Music Press, including four that were previously only available at Saint James Music Press!
Hosanna, Loud Hosanna to the tune Ellacombe is for SATB, organ and trumpet. The last verse can be extracted to provide fresh harmonization and a soaring descant when the hymn is sung by a congregation.
An alternate text for the same hymn tune arrangement can be found in the anthem, Hail To The Lord's Anointed - this came about when a fellow choral director asked for a setting of that text to the tune Ellacombe!
May The Lord Bless You And Keep You is a short choral benediction which sets Numbers 6:24-26 to a well known melody by G. F. Handel. For SATB, it is also suitable for use following a baptism or at a commissioning service for short or long-term missionaries.
Oh God, Your Greatness Is Everlasting with an uplifting text from Psalm 145 is set to Handel's famous Hornpipe from the Water Music. For SATB and organ or piano with optional trumpet obbligato, this is a very easy anthem when short of rehearsal time! The recording is a simplified version of the first verse only for children's choir and organ.
Saint James Music Press has just published Evelyn Larter's anthem, Love Divine. This was written on commission from the SouthWest Jersey Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, and first performed at their Annual Guild Service in October, 2016. It is described by the editor as follows:
For SATB, Organ, and Violin. This is a sublime (dare we say "transcendant"...) setting of the well-known Pentecost text by Bianco da Siena - with an added verse by Charles Wesley. Yes, for Pentecost, but many other uses as well. www.sjmp.com
Sheet Music Press has added Evelyn Larter's violin solo titled From Every Stormy Wind That Blows, which uses two old hymn tunes, Retreat and Rockingham. It is suitable for church prelude or offertory music.
February 2017 News!
In time for the upcoming season of Lent, Evelyn Larter's arrangement for solo violin and organ of O Sacred Head, Sore Wounded is now at Sheet Music Press. This 7 minute long, fantasia-like setting was previously only available at St James Music Press. Violin part is moderately difficult.
St James Music Press has also released Evelyn Larter's trio setting of the hymn, O The Deep, Deep love of Jesus. Here is the description from their website:
For Violin, Cello, and Organ, moderate difficulty. A beautiful, meditative setting of the tune Ebenezer (Ton-y-Botel). Great as a prelude, communion music, or anytime a contemplative piece is needed. www.sjmp.com
